Maya Angelou, born on April 4th, 1928, was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist, best known for her series of seven autobiographies. Through her work, she collaborated with Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X during the Civil Rights Movement. In 1993, she recited her Poem “On the Pulse of Morning” at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration. She died on May 28th, 2014 at the age 86.

Her extensive career included public speaking, acting, directing, authoring poetry, writing screenplays for film and television, and teaching. Early on she was a nightclub performer, a fry cook, and even a sex worker. Maybe the most surprising achievement is that she wrote seven different autobiographies! Through it all she has been an inspiration to many.

As part of this initiative, we partnered with ElevenLabs< to bring Dr. Angelou’s voice to life through AI-powered audio and collaborated with Florida International University (FIU) to help deliver Dr. Angelou’s story to students worldwide.
This initiative is more than technology—it’s a tribute to resilience, creativity, and the power of words. By blending innovation with history, we are ensuring that Dr. Angelou’s impact continues to inspire future generations.
