The Lumiere Awards, which recognize outstanding international achievement in the creation of immersive storytelling using advanced visual technologies, were announced on Friday, February 7. “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” won the Award for Best Documentary.

The awards ceremony was supposed to take place at the Beverly Hills Hotel, however in light of the recent devastating fires in Southern California, the decision was made to announce and deliver the awards directly to the honorees and not go ahead with the event as originally planned.

Even though it missed out on the Academy Awards shortlist, “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” recently won the Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures at the PGA Awards, while also receiving a nomination for the Best Documentary category for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). The highly acclaimed film, directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, also won Best Documentary Feature at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards.
