Casey Stengel piloted the New York Yankees to ten pennants and seven World Series championships in the years 1949 to 1960. But much earlier he also was good enough to carve out a fine career as an outfielder in the major leagues for 14 years. In 1913 as a center fielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers, he hit the first home run in their then new ballpark, Ebbets Field!
