Rock Hudson was born Roy Harold Scherer, Jr. and grew to be 6’5″. His career as a popular movie star spanned three decades. In 1956 he was nominated by the Motion Picture Academy for Best Actor following his role in Giant, which also starred James Dean. Later he appeared in many romantic comedies with Doris Day that were huge hits. Later still on television, Hudson scored again with the long running mystery series McMillan & Wife.
