Hedy Lamarr gained fame as one of the most beautiful women anyone had ever seen. She starred in movies for M-G-M. But in 2014, the National Inventors Hall of Fame posthumously inducted Hedy Lamarr for her numerous achievements in this field. It was one of many honors she was awarded, almost none of which were or are known to fans of her film career. They were completely different worlds.
For fun, she invented things, including innovations in plastic surgery in an attempt to preserve her own amazing looks. One of her many inventions changed the world we live in today. The cell phones people use today would probably not work without her invention.
