Many baseball authorities, including Vin Scully, have named Willie Mays as the greatest player in the history of the game. For a 1987 interview Joe Morgan asked Mays who was the best player he ever played with on his teams. Mays said, “My best player, the guy that I pick, wasn’t my teammate. He was Roberto Clemente.”
