Born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, Malcolm X was a prominent African-American minister and nationalist leader, who served as a spokesman for the Nation of Islam during the 1950s and 1960s. Due largely to his efforts, the Nation of Islam grew from a mere 400 members to 40,000 by 1960. He was killed on February 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan, where he had been preparing for his speech.

The words of Malcom X; he warned us long ago: "This is the media, an irresponsible media. It will make the criminal look like he's the victim, and the victim look like he's the criminal. If you aren't careful, the media will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing. This is a sort of propaganda that I would call psychological warfare."
Malcolm X once stated, "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything."
Civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X worked on behalf of the civil rights movement, but in different ways. The former preached non-violence, but the latter fought by any means necessary. For instance, Malcolm X once stated: "Only a fool fights by the ground rules that his enemy has laid down for him."
